Why does IntelliJ IDEA cause my ssh key confirmation prompt to pop up every few minutes?

Ever since I upgraded IntelliJ IDEA to a recent version–probably one of {2018.3, 2018.3.5, 2019.1}–my ssh agent has been prompting me for access to git every few minutes whenever I have a project open. Very annoying!

The offending setting, which I assume must be new, is in…File→Settings…→Version Control→Git. Just uncheck the Mark branches that have incoming/outgoing commits in the Branches popup option:

Notice that it defaults to refreshing every 10 minutes. It only seemed like every 3.
